Pete Lawson is our Freeze Dry Engineering Manager his day to day work sees him involved in the design, building, installing, and commissioning of innovative freeze dryers. He was recently involved in designing Cuddon’s first-of-its-kind carbon-dioxide refrigeration freeze dryers which show our commitment to cutting-edge technology and sustainability.
Originally from Scotland, Pete arrived in New Zealand in 2001 for a planned year-long overseas experience—but Marlborough's kept him here, and he's called it home since 2003. He and his wife, along with their two teenage daughters (plus two dogs and a cat), have embraced life in the region, far from family in the northern hemisphere.
With a degree in Aerospace Engineering from Manchester, UK, Pete’s career spans roles with GE Aerospace, Cubic Defense NZ, and Airbus Helicopters before joining Cuddon.
Outside of work, Pete loves an adventure—whether spearfishing, piloting, multihull sailing, or exploring his love of cake (not necessarily in that order). He's also sailed small beach catamarans in Greece and even across the Irish Sea. And if you’re looking for a story, ask him about the time he saw a ghost—completely sober!
What Pete loves most about working at Cuddon is the diversity of projects, the team’s “can-do” attitude, and the dedication to quality craftsmanship. He values the innovative spirit, collaborative talent, and commitment to continual improvement that define the company’s culture.
